Sludges, so-called 汚泥, refer to mud-like substances left from sewage treatment and wastewater treatment, or, in other words, dirty sediment separated from water. In residential areas and various industrial facilities, household sewage and industrial wastewater are discharged, and if sludge generated in the process of treating it is left unattended, it can decompose and cause odor and gas, harmful bacteria, and pest breeding, which can cause secondary environmental pollution and public health problems.
The sludge generated from the sewage treatment process is a mixture of solids and water with high organic concentrations. It is treated and disposed of separately. In general, sludge containing a coagulant is generated when a chemical removal process for advanced treatment is introduced. Broadly speaking, it includes screen clutter, sediment and sediment from the acupuncture point, and scum accumulated on the water surface of the abandonment tank.
More than half of Korea's odor complaints occur in the livestock sector, and livestock manure is the main cause of excessive agricultural nutrients and water pollution. Livestock manure is fixed in a structure that makes it difficult for harmful substances such as heavy metals to be decomposed, and greenhouse gases are generated in the existing compost and liquid fertilization processes, which have a great impact on pollution.
As industries around the world move from agriculture to industry, the generation of process sludge at various workplaces has increased every year. In particular, organic waste is increasing by about 4% every year. Most of them have been blamed for environmental pollution by incineration and landfill treatment, but they are subject to civil complaints because there is no optimal way to completely treat them, and the cost of treatment is constantly increasing.
According to the current Waste Management Act, by-products generated in the food manufacturing process stage are classified as business wastes. As a result, by-products generated by various companies, such as kimchi factories and fish sauce processing plants, are all entrusted to waste treatment companies, which spend hundreds of millions to tens of millions of won per year on treatment costs. However, the selection of treatment companies is also not smooth.
Fruits or heat fruits inevitably occur during fruit tree farming due to causes such as typhoons and pests. Corruption may occur due to shipment control, long-term storage, and abnormal climate. These fruits must be discarded because they cause environmental pollution such as odors and leachate over time, but the manpower and budget required are not easy.
