Dongbang Plantec,
By building a MES system capable of managing all aspects of production activities with Innobase, we have established an information platform that enables sustainable growth and a foundation for high-quality smart factory production.
Company: Dongbang Plantec
- Business type: Small and medium-sized business
- Industry: Manufacturing of other special-purpose machinery
- Products/Business: Industrial machinery parts, environmental industry machinery manufacturing, wholesale/retail, and trade, solar power generation, and mechanical equipment construction.
Founded in 1978, Dongbang Plantec has been manufacturing and engineering steel mill equipment, marine engine components, and dry vacuum pumps. We offer integrated solutions for vacuum pumps and systems, along with proprietary vacuum pump and system packages. Our dedicated maintenance and inspection department performs maintenance and inspections of leading vacuum pumps (Edwards, Kashiyama, Leybold, etc.) as well as domestic and international vacuum pumps. We also manufacture and supply various industrial machinery, including continuous casting equipment, hot rolling equipment, cold rolling equipment, and marine engine parts for steel mills.
Our specialized staff at our Engineering Division and Technology Research Center strengthen our engineering capabilities through 3D analysis and simulation, utilizing a variety of programs, including stress analysis (PRO-E), structural analysis (TEKLA, INVENTOR, MIDAS-GEN), fluid and thermal analysis (ADINA), CAD, and CAM.
Dongbang Plantec's task
Dongbang Plantec, which independently developed a dry vacuum pump in 1998, holds patents for water-cooling devices for screw vacuum pumps, cooling mechanisms for screw vacuum pumps, and multi-stage screws. With its stable quality and technological prowess, it has acquired CE and TUV certifications, earning favorable reviews in both domestic and international markets for its products in industries such as semiconductors, electrical and electronic equipment, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and plastic extrusion. The company strives to become a trusted company that truly impresses its customers.
To achieve this, Dongbang Plantec partnered with Innobase on several key challenges. Dongbang Plantec had been manually managing all operational processes, including order receipt, raw material receipt and issue, product production, process inspection, inventory, packaging, shipping, and sales. This led to a lack of cross-functional information integration, resulting in significant work losses. Furthermore, the company faced insufficient management of defective products and production lots, making it difficult to quickly track materials used and shipment history. Therefore, establishing an intelligent information system to establish a sustainable operational system was crucial.
How Innobase Supports Dongbang Plantec
The goal of Samyoungsunhwa is to create a safe workplace and reduce work losses by comprehensively managing detectors and sensors located throughout the workplace. Furthermore, the company aims to convert facility inspection records and related data within the entire workplace into digital information for management, thereby reducing previously invested costs and time.
Implementation of a production status monitoring system
Previously, manual BOM management led to excessive time-consuming and often delayed planning of material requirements against production plans. This was especially problematic because it was difficult to quickly monitor and understand material issuance and inventory information, which are essential for managing production performance. To address this lack of real-time information, Innobase established a systematic BOM management system that applies standard manufacturing process operations and established a system for timely parts requirement planning to ensure smooth product production. Furthermore, considering the previous inability to monitor performance against production plans, the system was implemented with functions such as work instructions, MRP, production performance, and routing management to enable real-time monitoring of production status.
Lot tracking management using barcodes
The manual nature of lot management, which had previously been impractical, has also been improved. First, computerized production management was implemented to enable tracking of materials used by production lot. This established a robust material management system for product manufacturing. Adding a previously missing identification tag management feature prevented incorrect inputs, outputs, and shipments, ultimately reducing product returns. Lot tracking also enabled immediate customer response.
Quick and accurate inventory management through location management
The lack of a management system previously made it difficult to accurately identify the inventory and locations of raw materials and products, leading to concerns about long-term inventory overhang. Therefore, we have established a system to enable location management of raw materials and products. First, we attached location barcodes to each warehouse and location, replacing manual material management within the warehouse. This allows us to provide location information for each product. This has improved the utilization of long-term inventory and spare warehouse space, which was previously difficult to identify. Furthermore, manual shipment management, which involved manually entering product locations on shipping instructions, has been replaced with IoT devices that check the status of shipping instructions and enable picking and shipping operations. This has resulted in more efficient shipment management.
