Previously, production performance and status, as well as product location and shipment, were all manually collected and managed. This made it difficult to monitor real-time production and location information, inventory, and warehouse space. Furthermore, product locations were manually entered on shipping instructions, and verification of location and product availability was required. This risk of misshipment and the potential for errors persisted throughout the entire process, resulting in inefficiencies in the field, such as the loss of time and manpower.

Establishment of a barcode system and barcode information infrastructure

Before building a system to achieve our goals, one thing we had to consider was the barcode system and the barcode information infrastructure. To establish a barcode system for Sungwon PF, Innobase applied barcodes (incoming and outgoing) to products and parts based on specific rules (e.g., Customer + Lot No. + Part No. + Type_Weight + Ser No.). We also established a barcode information infrastructure to minimize human errors such as misshipments and misdeliveries and to enable real-time information access via mobile devices.

To address the issue of manual production performance management and manual aggregation, which hindered the ability to monitor real-time production information, we developed a production status monitoring system utilizing on-site touch PCs and tablets. This system processes production performance data in real time, enabling automated performance management. This real-time performance monitoring facilitates on-site management and enables rapid response to issues arising during the manufacturing process.

Product/material management and shipment management

Product and material management, as well as shipment management based on these data, have all been improved.
First, location barcodes (metal tags) were attached to warehouses and locations, providing real-time location information for each product. This facilitated easy location tracking during product movement, reducing product picking times. This directly impacted product shipments, enabling shipment order status checks via tablets, improving accuracy and speed while preventing the risk of incorrect shipments. Furthermore, managing location barcodes (location tags) within the warehouse allowed for quick identification of long-term inventory and free space, facilitating the management of long-term or obsolete inventory, which ultimately led to inventory cost savings.
