Together with Innobase, we have established an integrated control system capable of monitoring real-time emergency situations across all business sites, while simultaneously implementing smart facility inspections to strengthen our safe and efficient smart factory system.
Company: Samyoung Sunhwa
- Company type: mid-sized company
- Industry: Other basic inorganic chemical manufacturing
- Products/Business: Chemical products (high-purity hydrogen peroxide), chemical product manufacturing, wholesale, trading, and brokerage.
Samyoung Pure Chemicals is a fine chemical company that manufactures and sells ultra-pure chemicals and high-performance chemicals essential for the manufacturing of core electronics components, including semiconductors, displays (OLEDs, LCDs), solar cells, and PCBs. Founded in 1989, Samyoung Pure Chemicals has grown alongside the Korean semiconductor industry. Since the 1930s, Samyoung Pure Chemicals has been a joint venture between Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) of Japan, which has possessed proprietary hydrogen peroxide manufacturing processes and ultra-pure hydrogen peroxide production capabilities for semiconductors, and Hansol Chemical, Korea's largest hydrogen peroxide specialist. As a specialized manufacturer of ultra-pure hydrogen peroxide, Samyoung Pure Chemicals has contributed significantly to the advancement of the semiconductor industry. Furthermore, with technical support from Mitsubishi Gas Chemicals, Samyoung Pure Chemicals manufactures and supplies high-quality, high-performance chemicals, including etchants, strippers, cleaners, dry film removers, and developers, for semiconductors, LCDs, OLEDs, solar cells, and PCBs, contributing to the advancement of the electronics industry.
The task of Samyeongsunhwa
Samyoung Pure Chemicals, a company specializing in functional chemicals for the semiconductor and advanced electronics industries, handles chemicals. Therefore, managing emergencies within the workplace is paramount. Preventing human error and simultaneously inspecting equipment to enhance work efficiency are crucial. For this reason, Samyoung Pure Chemicals installed fire detectors, water leak sensors, and gas detectors throughout the plant. However, if a detector were to activate, its location could only be identified from the control panel, delaying response to an accident and increasing the risk of exponential damage. Furthermore, intermittent false alarms resulted in significant work losses. Furthermore,
real-time monitoring of water levels in wastewater discharge/collection tanks and industrial water ponds was impossible, requiring situation room staff to visit the site and visually check water levels. This significantly increased the risk of environmental issues due to wastewater discharge/collection tank overflows or production delays due to industrial water shortages. In addition, because the field equipment was inspected daily, weekly, and monthly using sheets, there was a risk of human error, such as missing important inspection items. In addition, the analog inspection method resulted in the loss of human and material resources, and the utilization of related data was lost.
How Innobase Supports Samyoung Purification
The goal of Samyoungsunhwa is to create a safe workplace and reduce work losses by comprehensively managing detectors and sensors located throughout the workplace. Furthermore, the company aims to convert facility inspection records and related data within the entire workplace into digital information for management, thereby reducing previously invested costs and time.
Building an integrated control system
Samyoung Purification needed integrated control across its entire business site for both safety and efficiency reasons. Existing detectors intermittently triggered false alarms, and the time required to locate activated detectors was time-consuming, leading to delays in responding. Innobase integrated the data from all fire detectors, water leak sensors, and gas detectors within the business site, linking them with the PLC/control panel and monitoring system data. This integrated control system, integrated across the entire business site through a status board in the situation room, enables real-time emergency monitoring and rapid response. The integrated control system also incorporates water level sensors, displaying water level information in wastewater collection and discharge tanks and industrial water ponds. This allows for proactive warnings and action when wastewater collection and discharge tanks overflow or industrial water levels drop, eliminating the need for on-site inspection.
Smart facility inspection
With the establishment of an integrated control system, Innobase has digitized its facility inspection process, which previously involved conducting on-site inspections on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, recording inspection details on a sheet, and then archiving them. Previously, inspections were conducted manually using a checklist for each facility, followed by documentation. However, Innobase created and attached a QR code to each facility. Scanning the QR code automatically uploads the inspection results, allowing them to be viewed in the integrated control system. Photos can be attached to uploaded inspection results, overcoming the limitations of manual documentation. Furthermore, by setting inspection cycles within the system, users can receive notifications via email, text message, and KakaoTalk when the inspection period is due, even if they don't manually check the schedule. Furthermore, if any abnormalities are identified, an alert is sent to designated personnel. All records of these automated facility inspections are digitized and stored for future analysis and utilization.
