Dongbang Plantec,
together with Innobase, built a BOM management system and a production lot traceability system to systematize production and inventory management that had previously been manual, and established a location management framework enabling fast, accurate inventory visibility and customer response.
Since its founding in 1978, Dongbang Plantec has manufactured steelmaking equipment and engineering solutions, marine engine parts, and dry vacuum pumps. The company offers integrated vacuum pump and system solutions along with its own proprietary vacuum pump and vacuum system packages, and its dedicated maintenance division services vacuum pumps from leading global brands (Edwards, Kashiyama, Leybold, and others) as well as domestic and international vacuum pumps. Dongbang Plantec also produces and supplies various industrial machinery for the steelmaking sector, including continuous casting, hot rolling, and cold rolling equipment, as well as marine engine components.
Specialists at the company's Engineering Division and R&D Institute further strengthen its engineering capabilities through 3D analysis and simulation using stress analysis software (PRO-E), structural analysis software (TEKLA, INVENTOR, MIDAS-GEN), fluid and thermal analysis software (ADINA), CAD, CAM, and other tools.
Dongbang Plantec independently developed a dry vacuum pump in 1998 and holds patents covering the water-cooled cooling system and cooling mechanism of screw vacuum pumps, as well as multi-stage screw technology. With stable quality and technical capability certified by CE and TUV, the company has earned strong reviews in both domestic and overseas markets across industrial processes such as semiconductors, electrical and electronics, fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and plastic extrusion, and it continues striving to be a trusted company that goes above and beyond for its customers.
To meet that goal, Dongbang Plantec worked with Innobase to address a number of urgent issues. Management tasks across the company's operations — order intake, raw material receiving and issuing, production, process inspection, inventory, packaging, shipping, and sales — had all been handled manually, and the lack of information linkage between tasks was causing operational losses. In addition, defect and production lot management for in-process products was inadequate, making it difficult to quickly trace material usage and shipment history. Building an intelligent information system to establish a sustainable operating framework had become an urgent priority.
Dongbang Plantec's goal was to systematize its manual BOM, production, and inventory management tasks to strengthen information linkage between operations, establish a framework for tracing production lots and material flow, and accurately manage the location of raw materials, sub-materials, and finished products.
Under the previous manual BOM process, establishing a material requirements plan against the production plan took excessive time and was frequently delayed. This was made worse by the inability to quickly monitor material issuance and inventory data needed to track production performance. To close this real-time information gap, Innobase established a systematic BOM management framework based on standard manufacturing process operating procedures, along with a timely parts requirement planning system to support smooth production. Innobase also addressed the previous inability to monitor actual performance against the production plan by implementing work order, MRP, production performance, and routing management functions — building a system for real-time monitoring of production status.
The lack of production lot management under the manual process was also resolved. Innobase first computerized production management to enable tracking of materials used per production lot, establishing a management framework for the materials that go into production. An identification tag management function that had previously been missing was added to prevent input, issuance, and shipment errors, ultimately reducing the return rate — and lot traceability now enables immediate customer response.
The lack of a management framework had previously made it difficult to accurately track the inventory and location of raw materials, sub-materials, and finished products, raising the risk of long-term dead stock — so Innobase built a system enabling location management for these items. Warehouse material management, which had been done manually, was upgraded by attaching location barcodes by warehouse and location, providing location information for each product. This improved the utilization of previously hard-to-identify spare warehouse space, and the previously manual shipping process — where product locations were written by hand on shipping instructions — was replaced with IoT devices that let staff check shipping instructions and carry out picking and shipping directly, achieving more efficient outbound logistics management.
With stable quality and technical capability, Dongbang Plantec has earned strong reviews in both domestic and overseas markets in steelmaking equipment manufacturing and engineering, marine engine parts, and dry vacuum pump manufacturing. Having built its technical excellence through continuous R&D and active investment, and worked to deliver the best products under optimal conditions, perfecting its process operations was a natural next step.
Innobase, in turn, drew on its extensive know-how and expertise to build an optimal solution that enables visual on-site management, fast decision-making support, rapid response to issues, and greater user convenience. Real-time inventory management minimized obsolete stock, while visibility into suppliers' delivery schedules reduced warehouse inventory costs and enabled faster parts supply. Innobase closely analyzed the entire process from production to shipment so the system could be flexibly applied at every stage.
